Glastonbury Emerging Talent Contest

Last year I was invited to be a judge among a panel to help whittle down a long list of artists that had applied to take part in Glastonbury Festival's emerging talent contest. I was quite chuffed actually that of the 3 artists I put through, 2 of them made the final (there were 40 other judges, so 40 x 3 = 120 potential bands and only 8 bands make the final) I actually had the pleasure of seeing J-Treole (one of the bands I put through) play at glastonbury (often bands that make the final are offered a slot by one of stages at glastonbury)

This year I was offered the same gig, and today my three choices have been published on the Glastonbury website. My number one choice hasn't really left my head for a little while, so I thought I'd share it with you (video above). Typesun's back catalogue is also worth checking out, he has a knack for really great drums and soulful accompanyments underpined by a cracking voice. I also really like that this guy is undeniablly from Bristol; The odd glitches, arps and synth stabs all nod at the "purple sound" school of producers - Joker, Gemmy, Guido, etc.

Good luck to all three artists, hopefully see you all at Glastonbury 2013
